School Readiness Pipeline: Child Development Handouts

What does tummy time look like? Can you really play basketball with a two-year-old? How do you make a magazine puzzle?

To help parents answer these and other questions about easy ways to support their child’s development, Thrive in 5 has created a new series of visual child development hand outs.
The handouts depict developmentally-appropriate activities for children birth to 4 years old in the areas of communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social skills. These handouts can be distributed to families and community partners so that families can have visual representations of free and easy activities that they can do with their children.
The handouts were the idea of one of Thrive in 5’s parent screeners, who wanted an easy way to share ideas about how to better support children’s development and school readiness with families, particularly for families with low literacy levels.
