About this Request for Proposals (RFP)
With a generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Thrive in 5 will provide funding to 5 organizations/collaborations in 5 Boston communities to implement Community School Readiness Wiring (CSRW) in their communities.

Through this RFP, Thrive in 5 will award the following grants:

  • $100,000 to each of 3 organizations for an 18-month funding cycle that is expected to begin on January 1, 2010.
  • $75,000 to 2 organizations for a 10-month funding cycle that is expected to begin on September 1, 2010.

Key Dates and Deadlines

    October 7, 2009 - Intent to Apply Form due (optional but encouraged)

    October 13, 2009 - Bidder's Conference
    This optional, but encouraged Bidders' Conference was held at the Children's Museum. To read answers to the participants' questions about the RFP, scroll down to the Resources section of this page.

    November 2, 2009 - Proposals due by 5 p.m.

  • What neighborhoods are eligible to apply?
  • How were the eligible neighborhoods chosen?
  • What if no competitive proposals are submitted from one or more of the neighborhoods originally selected (Allston Brighton, Charlestown, Mattapan, Roslindale)?

  • Can a collaboration apply?
  • Can my organization submit a letter of support and/or Memorandum of Commitment for more than one applicant?
  • The budget worksheet states that the budget period is 1/1/2010 to 6/30/2010. I thought the grant period was 18 months. Is this correct?
